Family Fun

We had lots of fun getting out of the heat and playing with the Wilkins side of the family last week. My Aunt Annette & Uncle Orton and all their kids and grandkids and greatgrandkids met up in Pinetop for the weekend. We hung out, ate lots of fattening food , shot guns (those without babies) rode suped up golf carts and went fishing. Most of the pics had to be taken by others(those without babies) so this is what I got! It was a great way to spend Father's Day and wouldn't you know the fish really weren't biting but those that did ended up on Katelyn and Dave's rods! I swear my hubby never gets skunked , thank goodness cause at least I know we won't starve to death if the poop ever hits the fan. But now it seems my dear sweet little girl is going to follow in her Daddy's foot prints. She caught the very first fish on her own little rod! She was sooo excited until it came onto shore belly up basically and when Daddy put it on the stringer she cried cause she wanted to bring it home and put it in our fish tank. Then she needed to know if it was a boy fish or a girl fish. There was a little fibbing going on for that one but it seemed to appease her until Dave caught the next fish which happened to be whatever sex the first one wasn't! How lucky are we?

Busy Bees!

Well May was filled with lots for us to do and celebrate. We had Mother's Day which was also our 9th wedding anniversary. Wow, time really does fly. Dave had to go out on a fire so we still have to celebrate sometime soon, I hope. I mean every day is a celebration of course (eye roll) but it would be nice to go out for an evening where we can finish a sentence without interruption, ya know? So looking forward to that.

Katelyn had her end of year pool party at the dance studio followed by the annual dance recital. They did 2 numbers, 1 tap and 1 ballet and she did an awesome job, such a little ham!

That was followed by our Disneyland trip- so much fun but so exhausting there and back in the same day. She is still talking about that and already planning her next visit.

The following week was the graduation ceremony at Katelyn's preschool. They sang songs and gave each of the kids a book "all about me" with great pictures from throughout the year along with a special ribbon and certificate. We really lucked out in finding Ms. Amy and we all are going to miss her next year.

So all of our activities have ended and we've been trying to think of what we'd like to try next. Playdates anyone? We have swimming lessons starting next week and we are doing the summer movie program every Monday morning. I think Katelyn mentioned something about horses so I think I'm calling the Reed's to see what's up with the riding lessons they've started.

The other exciting/scary news is we just found out Kate gets to start Kindergarten this year!!! She missed the cut off date by just 2 months so we had her tested to see if she was ready and she did really well. The semester starts July 31st so that is just around the corner, I'm not sure if I'M ready but........ so I guess we need to squeeze in another vacation quick before we only travel with the masses on weekends and holidays, yuck!!! Maybe we should wait one more year???

Katelyn's Day!

So Thursday morning I went in Katelyn's room about 3 am and woke her up and asked if she wanted to go and spend the day doing something special with Mommy & Daddy. She was tired but intrigued and when I explained it was "Katelyn's Day" and it was a suprise she popped out of bed. We drove to the airport , trying to guess where we were going the whole way, and hopped on a plane to Orange County. Were we going to the beach? Grammy's house? We got a rental car and drove and still no idea where we were!

When she finally figured it out she was soooooo excited! She kept telling everyone it was" Katelyn's Day" like Father's Day or some other holiday, too cute. She was excited to meet all the princesses at the Faire

Then she found Ariel over at the Grotto

and Pocohantas and Meeko in Frontierland. We rode on lots of rides, including Space Mountain and the Matterhorn, the teacups were her favorite. We even got rained on too! Of course no visit to Disneyland is complete until you meet the most famous mouse ever.

Thanks to Grandma for staying home with Brody, we had a great day just the 3 of us. Just our little way to tell her we love her lots and we know it's hard sometimes to be the big sister, but she does an awesome job!

Book signing

So the book signing was great. There were about a 1000 people, mostly female and not mostly teens which was both suprising and a relief. I didn't want to be the only old fart there,lol! Stephenie answered questions for about a 1/2 hour and then began the signing. Mostly she talked about The Host, which I've only begun to read. She was gracious enough to talk about the Twilight series as well and she is still editing Breaking Dawn right now, and when she's finished she is planning on finishing Midnight Sun, Edward's side of Twilight.Cannot wait to read that one!! I ran off to use the potty while waiting for my "W" group to be called up for the signing and ran into a couple of girls from my ward, Staci and Kristin. Staci brought her little man with her and Kristin is/was? preggers out to here and we were visiting for a bit, I think they had letter X or Y or something. So we were in it for the long haul when one of the volunteers working there asked Staci if she'd like to go to the front(what with baby and all) and of course she did and she drug us all along, much to the dismay of the volunteer. But the whole evening started around 6pm and we were out of there questions, signings and all by 7-7:10 at the latest. Talk about a SCORE!!! So thanks Hambone(baby Abraham) for being so darn cute and letting me get back to my kiddos in record time =)

Springtime Fun

We finally got the courage up to travel with both kids on an airplane. My littlest sister was graduating at BYU and blessing her baby girl the same weekend so we decide to head up to Salt Lake City for the weekend. My Mom joined us and we stayed at my cousins house. We also did some sightseeing, taking a drive up to Brighton ski resort and we went to This is the place, where Brigham Young told the saints that this valley was what he'd seen in his dreams. I cant even imagine coming over those mountains in wagons and handcarts or by foot for that matter. They certainly were a hardier stock than most of us today.
Yesterday we went with a few girls from the ward to a splash pad at the mall. The water pressure was lame but they still had fun.

OH SO EXCITED!!!

Ok, so my friend Amber was so kind enough to lend me her set of the Twilight books and I don't think I put them down until I read through all 3. I love, love, love these characters. I got online to see how long until the final book comes out (Breaking Dawn, August 2nd) and found out all kinds of cool stuff . Stephenie Meyer is going to be at a book signing in town . Anywho, this trailer was just released for Twilight the Movie check it out!!! Make sure you go down & turn off my playlist first so you can hear the trailer =)
